A follow-up to our “reverse FA Cup 2010/11” post where we trace back through the results in the cup to crown the team who sets off a chain reaction of disastrous, losing results, culminating in the team who eventually lost the final. This time it’s the Scottish Cup.
Congratulations to Vale of Leithen, who triumphed in the 2010/11 Reverse Scottish Cup, following a comfortable 3-1 home defeat to Keith, in front of 73 spectators. There was unbelievable drama earlier in the competition as Buckie Thistle became the first side in the brief history of the reverse Scottish Cup to lose twice but still stay in contention for the coveted title. Buckie thought they had done enough to remove themselves from the tournament, having lost 1-0 to East Stirlingshire, but due to player irregularities, we’re reinstated and forced to play an extra tie. Thankfully they were soon dumped out by Brechin City in the very next round!
A special mention must also go to Celtic FC, as this year marked the 35th occasion they have been eliminated from the competition in the very first round. Better luck next year, chaps!
